Important

The required leaves for one squaremeter (1qm) are calculated without consideration for waste. The gilder can determine the percentage of waste based on the complexity of the object and his or her own experience in laying gold leaf. If for example the surface is very ornate with deep crevices, it will require considerably more gold leaf to gild then the same size area of a flat surface.
