Gravestones

Shine through eternity – gravestones with gilded lettering from gold leaf

Stonemasons and stone carvers are able to work with different qualities of stone and give them the shape you want. Chiselling script into a gravestone and gilding it with gold leaf is a skill that all experienced stonemasons should posses.

The gold leaf on lettering in the outdoors should have at least 23.5 carat to ensure that the gilding on the gravestone lasts for a long time. In cemeteries in France, stonemasons usually use 22 carat gold leaf. While this results in minimal savings for the customer, it also means that the gilded lettering does not last as long. The customer will have to have the lettering re-gilded regularly.
