Have you ever had narrow shapes of which you have needed to gild hundreds of metres? There are many situations where gold leaf on rolls makes the job of gilding considerably easier, as it is just like “transfer gold” in roll form. For this purpose, 205 sheets of gold leaf in 105 x 105 mm format are placed on a paper roll with a slight overlap. The finished roll is 21 m long and is known as the master roll. The smart way to work with gold leaf on rolls

Gold leaf on rolls should ideally be handled by two people. One person holds the paper over the object, while the other person lets it unroll by guiding it between their fingers and simultaneously pressing the gold onto the surface – which has been prepared with Mixtion or another medium. Hundreds of metres can be gilded in no time using gold leaf on rolls. Gilding aids for gold leaf on rolls that are available on the market are in most cases a hindrance and are inefficient for gilding. This is where true craftsmanship really pays off.
